Ex-convict, Maloney man shot dead

Two more mur­ders were record­ed on Sat­ur­day night in­to Sun­day morn­ing.

One of the vic­tims had served nine months in jail for house break­ing and lar­ce­ny.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, res­i­dents re­port­ed short­ly af­ter 11 pm there was a spate of gun­fire in the Mal­oney area.

Res­i­dents lat­er found Col­in "Sim­ba" Williams ly­ing on the ground with mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds. He was tak­en to the Ari­ma Health Fa­cil­i­ty but was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.

In the sec­ond in­ci­dent, short­ly af­ter mid­night res­i­dents of Uquire Road, in Freeport heard sev­er­al gun­shots.

Up­on in­ves­ti­gat­ing they found San­jay Sar­rans­ingh, 23, ly­ing on the road near his home.

He was al­so shot sev­er­al times. He was tak­en to the Cou­va Dis­trict Hos­pi­tal but was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.

Sar­rans­ingh, po­lice said, in Ju­ly last year, he was charged for house break­ing and lar­ce­ny of a house in the Freeport area.

He was sen­tenced to nine months im­pris­on­ment with hard labour by a Ch­agua­nas mag­is­trate.

The mur­der toll now stands at 298.
