A Venezuelan man who used the fake name "Roger Alexander" to mislead investigators was charged yesterday for the murder of Chinese national Fanglin Zuo in Tobago.
The 29-year-old appeared before Master Franklin yesterday for killing Zuo at his Bacolet home on September 14. Police found Zuo, 64, inside his container-style house with a head wound and signs of robbery.
The man was arrested on the same day Zuo was discovered.
He was among a group of Venezuelans who were involved in a fight with another group at Store Bay. Police caught him with a gun.
At that time, police said he identified himself as “Roger Alexander,” but investigators believe he gave the false name to derail the investigation and are still working to confirm his real identity.
He remanded and the matter was adjourned to July 30, 2026 for a status hearing. Police are still working to find his correct identity.
In a release, Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander had distanced himself from the incident before accused the media of misleading the public with its headline.
