A Venezue­lan man who used the fake name "Roger Alexan­der" to mis­lead in­ves­ti­ga­tors was charged yes­ter­day for the mur­der of Chi­nese na­tion­al Fan­glin Zuo in To­ba­go.

The 29-year-old ap­peared be­fore Mas­ter Franklin yes­ter­day for killing Zuo at his Ba­co­let home on Sep­tem­ber 14. Po­lice found Zuo, 64, in­side his con­tain­er-style house with a head wound and signs of rob­bery.

The man was ar­rest­ed on the same day Zuo was dis­cov­ered.

He was among a group of Venezue­lans who were in­volved in a fight with an­oth­er group at Store Bay. Po­lice caught him with a gun.

At that time, po­lice said he iden­ti­fied him­self as “Roger Alexan­der,” but in­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve he gave the false name to de­rail the in­ves­ti­ga­tion and are still work­ing to con­firm his re­al iden­ti­ty.

He re­mand­ed and the mat­ter was ad­journed to Ju­ly 30, 2026 for a sta­tus hear­ing. Po­lice are still work­ing to find his cor­rect iden­ti­ty.

In a re­lease, Home­land Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Roger Alexan­der had dis­tanced him­self from the in­ci­dent be­fore ac­cused the me­dia of mis­lead­ing the pub­lic with its head­line.
