A family of three has appeared in the the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The Police Service said Clint Ramkissoon, 39; his wife Taslimah Meighoo Ramkissoon, 23; and
his brother Daniel Ramkissoon, 37, all of Toco Main Road, Matura, stood before Senior Magistrate Gillian Scotland to answer the charges.
Clint Ramkissoon and his wife pleaded not guilty and were granted $50,000 and $55,000 bail with surety respectively while Daniel Ramkissoon pleaded guilty and was remanded into custody.
He is due to to reappear before a magistrate today.
The Ramkissoons were arrested following a search warrant being executed at their home during an anti-crime exercise conducted between Friday and Saturday.
During the exercise officers of the Eastern Division Task Force (EDTF) conducted a search of a home in the Matura district, where they discovered one homemade shotgun and 11 rounds of 16-gauge ammunition.
Charges were laid by PC Treavajo, of the EDTF.
Both Clint and Taslimah Ramkissoon are due to reappear in court on December 13.
