A female security officer in Point Fortin is one of two people arrested by police during anti-crime exercises carried out this week, in the Eastern and South-Western Divisions. She was held for illegal weapon possession.
And a 21-year-old man was held by Eastern Division police officers earlier this week, for marijuana possession.
According to a release from the Police Service, South-Western Division officers on patrol, along with members of the Southern Division Task Force, executed a search warrant at a house on Hollywood Road, Fanny Village in Point Fortin, on Wednesday.
There, they found and seized one 9-millimetre pistol fitted with a magazine and 17 rounds of 9-millimetre ammunition. The items were secured and taken to the station for processing.
A female security officer was arrested in connection with the find.
Meanwhile, in the Eastern Division, the TTPS says Eastern Division Task Force officers arrested a 21-year-old man for possession of marijuana on Monday 6 May 2024.
The suspect was formerly charged on Tuesday, May 7, for the offence of Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Ammunition by PC Singh.
Reports state that between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:50 pm on Wednesday, the suspect handed over to the police some 1.2kgs of marijuana, four rounds of 9-millimetre ammunition and four rounds of 5.56 ammunition.
Enquiries are ongoing into both matters.
