Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a fire that de­stroyed a house in Clax­ton Bay yes­ter­day af­ter­noon.

No one was in­jured.

The house at Sum Sum Hill Road is owned by a rel­a­tive of the own­er of AM Mar­ket­ing Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors were in­formed that two work­men were do­ing weld­ing work on the roof of a shed ad­join­ing the west­ern side of the home.

Around 2 pm one of them saw smoke em­a­nat­ing from an area on the ground floor.

They alert­ed the oc­cu­pants Ash­min Mo­hammed, 58, and Na­gir Mo­hammed, 86, who were in the house.

They came out and all of them tried to put out the fire with­out suc­cess. The house was even­tu­al­ly en­gulfed in flames.

Three oth­er peo­ple ages 21, 19 and 56 lived in the house.

The Fire Ser­vices with ten­ders un­der the su­per­vi­sion of As­sis­tant Di­vi­sion­al Fire Of­fi­cer Bel­grave re­spond­ed and tried to ex­tin­guish the blaze, but the house was to­tal­ly de­stroyed.

The cause of the fire has not yet been de­ter­mined.

The home had an es­ti­mat­ed val­ue of $2 mil­lion.
