Five sus­pects were ar­rest­ed, and a firearm, cannabis, and cash were seized dur­ing a se­ries of State of Emer­gency Op­er­a­tions con­duct­ed by po­lice across mul­ti­ple di­vi­sions on Wednes­day.

In the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion, of­fi­cers from the Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion De­part­ment (CID) car­ried out an ex­er­cise be­tween 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the En­ter­prise dis­trict. Dur­ing a search near an aban­doned struc­ture, po­lice dis­cov­ered a Smith & Wes­son re­volver loaded with two rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.

Mean­while, in the North Cen­tral Di­vi­sion, of­fi­cers from the Task Force and Gang and In­tel­li­gence Unit ex­e­cut­ed a search op­er­a­tion in Pasea Vil­lage be­tween 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. A search at the home of a 41-year-old sus­pect led to the dis­cov­ery of two pack­ages con­tain­ing 1.1 kilo­grams of cannabis. The sus­pect was ar­rest­ed.

In To­ba­go, of­fi­cers from the Shir­van Road CID and Gang and In­tel­li­gence Unit con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise be­tween 11:20 p.m. on Feb­ru­ary 5 and 3:30 a.m. on Feb­ru­ary 6. A search at the home of a 40-year-old sus­pect re­sult­ed in the seizure of cannabis and an undis­closed amount of US and TT cur­ren­cy. Both the sus­pect and a woman present at the time were ar­rest­ed.

In a sep­a­rate op­er­a­tion in the Bon Ac­cord dis­trict, a 29-year-old man was ar­rest­ed af­ter be­ing found with quan­ti­ties of US and TT cur­ren­cy, which were seized un­der the Pro­ceeds of Crime Act pend­ing fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

In the North­ern Di­vi­sion, Task Force of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise in the Ari­ma dis­trict, search­ing a house on St. Joseph Street. There, they un­cov­ered sev­er­al pack­ets of cannabis val­ued at TT$37,089. A 66-year-old man in the house at the time was ar­rest­ed.
