Heavy rainfall has caused street and flash flooding in parts of north and western Trinidad.
At around midday, there were reports of flooding along the Eastern Main Road between St Augustine and Tunapuna, along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway between Aranguez and Pasea and in areas of Santa Cruz.
Videos posted on social media showed some drivers stalling as they attempted to navigate the flood waters along the Eastern Main Road in St Augustine with their low vehicles.
A weather forecast issued by the T&T Meteorological Service around 10.34 am stated that this afternoon it will be partly cloudy to cloudy with intervals of showers and thunderstorm activity favouring the western half of Trinidad.
It warned to expect gusty winds and that street and flash flooding may occur near heavy showers.
The rainy weather may put a damper on members of the Hindu community preparing to end their Divali festivities later on today with the lighting of deyas.
