After several weeks of surveillance, three men including a former military man were arrested after police found and seized one automatic rifle was found together with two magazines and 22 rounds of ammunition.
According to a police report, on Thursday at about 10.30 pm a team of officers involved in the surveillance exercise which was under the supervision of Sgt Lyndon Mascall, members of the Northern Division Task Force Area East spearhead by Cpl Gentle together with WPC Caruth, PCs Persad and Williams had cause to stop a red Hyundai Tucson SUV vehicle that was travelling along Boys Lane Extension D’Abadie, Arima.
There were three male occupants in the said vehicle all known to police, one of whom is a former military personnel.
On searching the vehicle the officers made the find.
The three men were detained and are currently in police custody.
