Four peo­ple were ar­rest­ed and two firearms, quan­ti­ties of am­mu­ni­tion, and nar­cotics were seized by Cen­tral Di­vi­sion po­lice dur­ing sev­er­al in­tel­li­gence-led ex­er­cis­es con­duct­ed over the past 48 hours.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, be­tween 8 pm on Sat­ur­day No­vem­ber 8 and 1 am on Sun­day, of­fi­cers of the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force (CDTF) Area North car­ried out an in­tel­li­gence-based ex­er­cise in the En­ter­prise dis­trict.

Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion, of­fi­cers went to May­ers Av­enue, Chrissie Trace, where they ob­served a group of men lim­ing on a bridge along the road­way.

Po­lice said that while ap­proach­ing the group, they saw one of the men, known to them, throw an ob­ject to the ground. The man was stopped and searched, and of­fi­cers re­port­ed­ly found a black .38 Spe­cial re­volver loaded with five rounds of .38 am­mu­ni­tion. The 30-year-old En­ter­prise res­i­dent was ar­rest­ed and lat­er charged with pos­ses­sion of firearm and pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion.

Ear­li­er that day, be­tween 1.30 pm and 7 pm, an­oth­er team of CDTF Area North of­fi­cers con­duct­ed a search at a res­i­dence along Pe­ters­field Main Road, Ch­agua­nas. Dur­ing the search, po­lice said they dis­cov­ered 13.5 grammes of co­caine and 78.3 grammes of cannabis. A 42-year-old man was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find.

Be­tween 3 pm and 10 pm the same day, of­fi­cers of the CDTF Area South car­ried out an­oth­er in­tel­li­gence-led ex­er­cise at Fitt Street, Mon­trose. There, they ex­e­cut­ed a search at the res­i­dence of a known of­fend­er and sev­er­al in­di­vid­u­als gath­ered at the lo­ca­tion. Po­lice said the search led to the dis­cov­ery of 123 grammes of cannabis. A 47-year-old man from South Phase Four, Ed­in­burgh 500, was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the drugs.

Dur­ing the same op­er­a­tion, a 41-year-old man from George Street, Es­per­an­za Vil­lage, Cou­va, was al­so ar­rest­ed for pos­ses­sion of 1.6 grammes of co­caine.

Ad­di­tion­al­ly, be­tween 7 pm and 10.30 pm on Fri­day, No­vem­ber 7, of­fi­cers of the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Gang Unit seized an­oth­er firearm dur­ing a sep­a­rate ex­er­cise. Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion, they ex­e­cut­ed a search war­rant at the home of a 35-year-old man of Mc­Carthy Street, En­ter­prise.

While noth­ing il­le­gal was found in­side the house, po­lice said a fur­ther search was con­duct­ed at the back of the premis­es in an open area of land, where they dis­cov­ered a black plas­tic bag con­tain­ing a Smith & Wes­son firearm, five rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion, and two rounds of .38 Spe­cial am­mu­ni­tion.

The firearm and am­mu­ni­tion were seized, and in­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
