Four people were arrested during an anti-crime exercise conducted by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) in Laventille on Sunday.
Police said the operation took place between 2 pm and 6 pm and covered several areas, including Calvary Hill, Bath Street, Basilon Street, Eastern Quarry and Mango Rose. The exercise was carried out by coordinated teams within the Port of Spain Division.
Officers from multiple units participated, including the Investigation and Operations Unit, Gang and Intelligence Unit, Port of Spain Task Force, Besson Street Police Station, Criminal Investigations Department Area East, St Clair Police Station, Central Police Station, Capital City Patrol Unit, Belmont Police Station, Canine Unit, and the Court and Process Warrant Section.
During the exercise, officers searched houses, apartments, abandoned buildings, drug blocks, and vehicles. Police said the searches were part of efforts to locate illegal firearms and other items.
The operation resulted in the arrest of four individuals. Three were held in connection with Preventative Detention Orders. One person was arrested for suspected involvement in home invasions, robberies, and the destruction of an electronic monitoring device.
Police said the exercise was led by DCP Operations Suzette Martin and ACP Henry. Strategic oversight was provided by Snr Supt Thom. Supervision was carried out by Supt Revanales, Supt Baird, ASP Cadette and ASP Mungroo.
