Four men were ar­rest­ed in the South West­ern Di­vi­sion on Mon­day, fol­low­ing a re­port of shoot­ing with in­tent and pos­ses­sion of firearm and am­mu­ni­tion.

A fe­male vic­tim re­port­ed to po­lice that she was at her South Oropouche home around 7:35 pm, on Mon­day when she ob­served three men out­side her premis­es. She al­leged the men en­tered the com­pound and one of them point­ed a gun in her di­rec­tion. The vic­tim then heard a loud ex­plo­sion and the sus­pects fled the scene.

A re­port was made to the po­lice and of­fi­cers of the Oropouche

Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment. Four male sus­pects were held a short time lat­er in a Toy­ota Rav 4.

A search of the ve­hi­cle led to the dis­cov­ery of one Tau­rus pis­tol loaded with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing six rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.

The men, a 28-year-old of Port-of-Spain, a 32-year-old of Laven­tille, a 34-year-old of Mor­vant and a 45-year-old of La Brea, were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent and the find.

In the East­ern Di­vi­sion, Task Force of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an op­er­a­tion in the To­co dis­trict be­tween 11:50 am and 1:30 pm on Mon­day.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers ar­rest­ed a 25-year-old man for pos­ses­sion of a home­made shot­gun and four 12 gauge car­tridges and a 20-year-old man for the pos­ses­sion of cam­ou­flage cloth­ing.
