Big “guns” are seek­ing the post of PNM so­cial me­dia of­fi­cer, in­clud­ing so­cial me­dia per­son­al­i­ty Krys­tle Hor­wood, PNM so­cial me­dia pi­o­neer Dane Wil­son, re­gion­al cor­po­ra­tion chair­man Kwasi Robin­son and ra­dio show host Do­minic Ro­main.

The post is among 16 be­ing con­test­ed in the par­ty’s No­vem­ber 26-27 and De­cem­ber 4 in­ter­nal elec­tions.

Hor­wood, a tourism sec­tor busi­ness­woman, is al­so a so­cial me­dia per­son­al­i­ty un­der the han­dle Kim Cole, host­ing The Cole Truth.

She has tak­en some “jam­ming” about a pe­ri­od in her life when she was a UNC mem­ber, but that’s long be­hind Hor­wood, who was the lone voice de­fend­ing the PNM on Jan­u­ary 16 against pro­test­ers.

Hor­wood said she’d seen a video of peo­ple at the Queen’s Park Sa­van­nah shout­ing “Row­ley Must Go!” (at the Push Back Two protest).

She made a plac­ard and went to the Queen’s Park Sa­van­nah in sup­port of the Gov­ern­ment and to stand in sol­i­dar­i­ty with the Prime Min­is­ter, whom she said she sup­ports.

Hor­wood was seen hold­ing a plac­ard de­clar­ing “Pushin’ For­ward with D PNM” and yelling her own re­ply to pro­tes­tors: “Vac­ci­nate to Op­er­ate!”

Hor­wood grew up in a PNM house­hold in Tu­na­puna, where her fa­ther was a key ac­tivist for then MP Ed­die Hart. At age 13, Hor­wood said she joined Tu­na­puna’s PNM youth arm.

Hor­wood said: “I’m for the peo­ple and from the peo­ple. I want to re­con­nect those who may feel dis­en­fran­chised. Among my plans is to have a vir­tu­al Uni­ver­si­ty of Wood­ford Square where every­one can voice views.”

Wil­son, who joined PNM in 1996 in Diego Mar­tin North East, served as par­ty youth of­fi­cer. Wil­son pi­o­neered sev­er­al ini­tia­tives in PNM’s so­cial me­dia ef­fort over 2006-2011.

“I be­lieve it in­flu­enced PNM to amend its con­sti­tu­tion to make the so­cial me­dia po­si­tion a stand­ing one. I’ll be bring­ing this part of my ex­pe­ri­ence and that in me­dia and pro­duc­tion which I have to the ta­ble,” he added.

“I al­so have a num­ber of planned ini­tia­tives which can bring fur­ther de­vel­op­ment of dig­i­tal based me­dia in the PNM. These are be­ing un­rolled as the cam­paign pro­gress­es,” Wil­son added.

Robin­son joined PNM in 2007 but ac­tu­al­ly be­came ac­tive on the night of May 24, 2010, when the PNM lost elec­tions.

“If it was a time when peo­ple were walk­ing out and cry­ing at what oc­curred my per­spec­tive was dif­fer­ent: we have to give in life when you’re go­ing thor­ough bad as well as good...it start­ed there for me,” Robin­son added.

Ra­dio 91.9 show host Ro­main, in 2013 Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment polls, con­test­ed the D’Abadie Cara­po seat as an In­de­pen­dent Lib­er­a­tion Par­ty (ILP) can­di­date. He then joined PNM in D’Abadie O’Meara, where he re­sides.

He said, “A num­ber of so­cial me­dia ac­tivists are ready to work with me for PNM.” plan de­vel­op­ing strate­gies and con­tent on all so­cial me­dia plat­forms.”
