Central Division police and members of the Coast Guard were up to late yesterday searching for three missing fisherman who reportedly disappeared in the Gulf of Paria on Tuesday. Investigating officers said they got an anonymous tip-off that three bodies were found in a boat off the coast of Claxton Bay. Shortly after 12 pm, a party led by Supt Johnny Abraham searched the coastline from Claxton Bay to Carli Bay but found no pirogue or the men. Shortly after 3 pm, Point Fortin police reported that an abandoned pirogue was found near a Trinmar platform with the engine and other fishing equipment.

The missing fishermen are Kasinath Ramsaran, 31, his brother Ravi Ramsaran, of Cacandee Road Felicity, and Pream Plias, of Longdenville. According to Ramsaran’s (K) wife, Neisha Martinez, the men left with their fishing pirogue, which was moored near the Lakhan Karriah Cremation Site, around 3 am on Tuesday. Martinez, 37, said they were scheduled to return home around 1 pm the following day. She said that after 2 pm on Wednesday, while waiting with her father-in-law, they became worried and attempted to contact the men. She said calls to either of their phone went unanswered.
