Ramco Industries Limited has issued a public advisory on the safe use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) following recent reports of incidents involving gas tank explosions at homes and in communities.
In a statement, the company said that while investigations into individual cases are ongoing, safety across the LPG marketplace remains its priority. Ramco outlined key safety measures for users, including the use of only approved regulators and hoses that meet codes EN16129 and EN559. Regulators should be replaced every five years and hoses every two years, or immediately if damaged.
Ramco reminded customers that defective regulators and hoses are the leading cause of LPG fires. Its regulator kits are manufactured to international standards and include two hose clips for proper installation.
Consumers were also advised on safety procedures in the event of a gas leak. These include turning off the cylinder valve, ventilating the area, avoiding the use of electrical devices or flames, and calling emergency services at 990.
The company stated that it continues to invest in safety technology, including systems to detect faulty or missing O-rings during the cylinder filling process. Cylinders that fail safety tests are removed and quarantined.
Ramco said customers can contact the company through its toll-free numbers 800-COOK (2265) or 800-4LPG (4574) for assistance, to report leaks, or to request inspections. - RB
