An Ari­ma man was shot and an­oth­er ar­rest­ed af­ter a shoot­ing with gel blasters end­ed with ac­tu­al gun­play on New Year’s Day, po­lice said.

Po­lice said the man was on the cor­ner of Print­eryville and Sec­ond Street in Ari­ma at 3.40 pm when he fired a gel blaster at a group of peo­ple near­by.

The man then re­port­ed feel­ing a burn­ing sen­sa­tion on his arm and re­alised he was shot be­fore run­ning away.

He was tak­en to hos­pi­tal by passers by.

Ari­ma Po­lice vis­it­ed the scene and found ten spent 9 mm shell cas­ings.

Lat­er that af­ter­noon, of­fi­cers of the North­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force ar­rest­ed a sus­pect in the shoot­ing.

Of­fi­cers of the Ari­ma CID are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
