In the midst of a grow­ing H1N1 virus threat at Grant Memo­r­i­al Pres­by­ter­ian School, a 15-year-old stu­dent of the Pe­nal Ju­nior Sec­ondary School died yes­ter­day from what is be­lieved to be dengue fever. Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, Mooni­lal Toolsiesingh, of SS Erin Road Debe, com­plained to his par­ents on Wednes­day that he was not well, and be­gan to vom­it.

The Form Four stu­dent was tak­en to a doc­tor in Pe­nal and then sent home.

He re­port­ed­ly fell asleep around 9.30 pm, and through­out the night and ear­ly morn­ing, his par­ents re­peat­ed­ly checked on him. How­ev­er, when they went to check on him around 9 am yes­ter­day, they dis­cov­ered him dead. An au­top­sy is sched­uled to be per­formed to­day. (CC)
