A 35-year-old man who was dri­ven to steal from his niece be­cause of his love for pun­cheon yes­ter­day was or­dered to pay a $1,500 fine forth­with. Nick­named "Pun­cheon", Richard Sun­dar told San Fer­nan­do First Court Mag­is­trate In­dra Ramoo-Haynes: "I take the mon­ey to buy pun­cheon rum be­cause I don't like mar­i­jua­na or co­caine, just pun­cheon." He was charged with lar­ce­ny by act­ing Cpl In­chan Teeluck, of the Ste Madeleine Po­lice Sta­tion. The court heard that around 11.30 am on March 8 he broke in­to his niece's home at Ste Madeleine and took the mon­ey from in­side her wardrobe. Sun­dar had two pre­vi­ous con­vic­tions for ob­tain­ing mon­ey by false pre­tences and ob­scene lan­guage.
