Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says the auspicious celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr "is a time to celebrate victory over self-control." It marks the end of fasting during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Homes and mosques throughout T&T will come alive with the celebration of this religious holiday.
In delivering greetings to the Muslim community, she said: "It is time to give thanks for strength, health and the opportunities of life. "The Eid day brings happiness, unity and the knowledge that true joy comes from our ability to alleviate the suffering of our needy brothers and sisters. "As we join our Muslim community in observing Eid-ul-Fitr, let us pledge to continue to demonstrate the spirit of tolerance and understanding that rests within hearts of the people of T&T." She extended greetings to the Muslim community.
"May the blessings of Allah be showered upon you and grace your homes with peace, warmth and love," she said. She wished continued blessings and happiness to Muslim families. She said: "May Allah bless your home with happiness, your heart with devotion and your soul with purity. "For Muslims worldwide, Eid is an auspicious festival, characterised by the renewal of faith, camaraderie, commitment to family and community and forgiveness of sins and enmity."
