Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar says the aus­pi­cious cel­e­bra­tion of Eid-ul-Fitr "is a time to cel­e­brate vic­to­ry over self-con­trol." It marks the end of fast­ing dur­ing the Holy Month of Ra­madan. Homes and mosques through­out T&T will come alive with the cel­e­bra­tion of this re­li­gious hol­i­day.

In de­liv­er­ing greet­ings to the Mus­lim com­mu­ni­ty, she said: "It is time to give thanks for strength, health and the op­por­tu­ni­ties of life. "The Eid day brings hap­pi­ness, uni­ty and the knowl­edge that true joy comes from our abil­i­ty to al­le­vi­ate the suf­fer­ing of our needy broth­ers and sis­ters. "As we join our Mus­lim com­mu­ni­ty in ob­serv­ing Eid-ul-Fitr, let us pledge to con­tin­ue to demon­strate the spir­it of tol­er­ance and un­der­stand­ing that rests with­in hearts of the peo­ple of T&T." She ex­tend­ed greet­ings to the Mus­lim com­mu­ni­ty.

"May the bless­ings of Al­lah be show­ered up­on you and grace your homes with peace, warmth and love," she said. She wished con­tin­ued bless­ings and hap­pi­ness to Mus­lim fam­i­lies. She said: "May Al­lah bless your home with hap­pi­ness, your heart with de­vo­tion and your soul with pu­ri­ty. "For Mus­lims world­wide, Eid is an aus­pi­cious fes­ti­val, char­ac­terised by the re­new­al of faith, ca­ma­raderie, com­mit­ment to fam­i­ly and com­mu­ni­ty and for­give­ness of sins and en­mi­ty."
