Despite the inclement weather on Friday, hundreds of Tobagonians came out to be a part of the youth rally and cultural programme, at the Gardenside car park in Scarborough. The rally was one of the many activities held by the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) in commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the formation of the Tobago House of Assembly.
The cultural programme saw acts from Digicel Rising Star winners Donnel Job and Kay Alleyne, soca artists Swappy and Princess Adanna and Gospel Artist Positive. The feature address was delivered by Vision on a Mission CEO and motivational speaker Wayne Chance, who brought a powerful message to the young people about staying out of trouble and valuing their freedom in society.
He also urged parents to stick by their children no matter what mistakes they make in life. The week of activities began last week Thursday with the launch of an exhibition of the works by the various divisions within the Assembly at Gardenside car park. A tree-lighting ceremony was also held at the at Botanic Station, Scarborough, later that Thursday.
A church service was held at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church at Rockly Vale on Friday morning. TTPost also printed a special issue of postage stamps to commemorate the occasion. The sale of the stamps would be launched at a ceremony at the Mount Irvine Bay Hotel today.
