The Police Service says that Police Commissioner Gary Griffith is personally treating with both investigations into recent road traffic accidents involving officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).
In a statement issued Friday, the TTPS says the Commissioner has immediately suspended the driving privileges of these officers as it relates to the use of TTPS vehicles and has ordered an internal review of police driving standards.
It says the investigations into these incidents have commenced.
"The TTPS is indeed saddened by these two recent road traffic deaths involving officers of the TTPS and the Special Reserve Police and wish to extend its sincerest condolences to the families of the victims for their immeasurable loss," the statement said.
A 46-year-old woman was killed in Diego Martin Tuesday night by a car driven by a police officer and a man was killed on the Priority Bus Route this morning when he was hit by a police vehicle.
