Two security guards who refused to allow a group of people to enter a private pool party on Sunday were shot by two men from the same group.
According to police, security officers Franklyn Borris was shot in the left leg while his colleague Al Sandiford was shot in the right leg.
The incident took place around 3 am at the River Ranch Resort in Arima where Borris and Sandiford were on duty at the resort’s entrance along Bye Pass Road, Arima.
A group of six men and two women arrived at the entrance and asked to be allowed inside. When they were told it was a private event and they could not enter, they left.
But about 20 minutes later, two men returned, armed with a shotgun and a pistol.
They shot at the officers 16 times before speeding off, police said. Sandiford drove himself to the hospital while Borris was taken for treatment by partygoers.
