Police officers in the Port-of-Spain Division recovered a firearm and a quantity of ammunition in a dustbin in a bar at Prince Street during a search on Saturday.
In the anti-crime exercise between 5 am and 7 am on February 8, officers from the Besson Street Police Station went to Son’s Bar at Prince Street, Port-of-Spain and found 75 people partying inside.
Many of the patrons were said to be residents of
Nelson Street, St Paul Street, Picton Road, and Foster Road (Hillview).
As officers began searching the bar and its patrons, other officers conducted a search of the bar and washrooms.
In the area outside, officers found and seized one Glock 17 firearm in a dust bin fitted with one magazine containing eight rounds of 9 mm ammunition.
No one was held in connection with the find.
Nothing illegal was found on any of the patrons searched.
