Po­lice of­fi­cers in the Port-of-Spain Di­vi­sion re­cov­ered a firearm and a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion in a dust­bin in a bar at Prince Street dur­ing a search on Sat­ur­day.

In the an­ti-crime ex­er­cise be­tween 5 am and 7 am on Feb­ru­ary 8, of­fi­cers from the Besson Street Po­lice Sta­tion went to Son’s Bar at Prince Street, Port-of-Spain and found 75 peo­ple par­ty­ing in­side.

Many of the pa­trons were said to be res­i­dents of

Nel­son Street, St Paul Street, Pic­ton Road, and Fos­ter Road (Hillview).

As of­fi­cers be­gan search­ing the bar and its pa­trons, oth­er of­fi­cers con­duct­ed a search of the bar and wash­rooms.

In the area out­side, of­fi­cers found and seized one Glock 17 firearm in a dust bin fit­ted with one mag­a­zine con­tain­ing eight rounds of 9 mm am­mu­ni­tion.

No one was held in con­nec­tion with the find.

Noth­ing il­le­gal was found on any of the pa­trons searched.
