Tobago police have recovered a firearm and a quantity of marijuana following an exercise in Scarborough on Monday.
According to reports, a party of officers attached to the Tobago Divisional Task Force and K9-Unit went to an area in Mt St George and carried out an extensive search. During the exercise, 100 grammes of marijuana, which was in two transparent plastic bags, was found and seized. The street value has been estimated at $5,000. No one was arrested.
Guardian Media understands that the party of officers continued enquiries in the said district and conducted another search where they found and seized one silver and black Beretta pistol. No one was arrested.
The exercise, which was coordinated by Snr Supt Jeffery George, was conducted between the hours of 11.30 am and 2.30 pm.
The exercise was spearheaded by Sgt Stewart and supervised by Ag Sgt Hernandez and Ag Cpls Bishop and Moses.
Investigations are continuing.
This brings to four the number of guns found and seized in Tobago for 2019.
