A Princes Town contractor and his family escaped injury after gunshots were fired at their home early yesterday morning.

They were at their Iere Village home around 12.10 am when they heard loud explosions.

They subsequently discovered bullet holes in a front window and wall of the house and two bullet holes in their Hilux van. Initial information stated that the shots were fired by an assailant who escaped in a waiting car. Police recovered eight 9 mm spent shells at the scene.

When Guardian Media visited the home, no one was there and neighbours were reluctant to speak about the incident. However, one resident described the contractor as "a real good guy." Princes Town police are still trying to ascertain a motive.
