After giving a stern warning last week to the public to exercise vigilance and responsibility over the weekend, Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh is satisfied with the response over the Easter holiday.
The minister said he was in Tobago during this year's holiday and last year's.
"I would say, from my anecdotal, non-scientific poll, that people seemed this Easter, to be more responsible in my view. Very unscientific. Just me looking on," he said.
He said that based on feedback he's received from members of the public, the population has a good understanding of their role in controlling the pandemic.
"A lot of people don't want to regress the situation and I think a lot of people- not all- will do the right things," he said.
He said this responsibility is also expressed in the business community.
Despite this, he said he was concerned with observations he made on Independence Square on Wednesday morning. He said he noticed "a lot of people not wearing masks or wearing masks properly."
He said now that there are less restrictions on movement, people need to adhere to the public health guidelines.
