There is widespread flooding this afternoon as T&T continues to feel the impact of a passing Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).
The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) is reporting flooding in Mafeking Village, Radix Village and Cunapo Southern Main Road in the Mayaro/Rio Claro Regional Corporation district.
In the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation district, floods have been reported in Mausica, Greenville La Horquetta, Manhattan Dr/By-Pass Arima, Watt's Street, Gordon Street and some areas in Curepe.
The Main Road in St Joseph was impassable after the heavy rainfall.
There have also been reports of homes being flooded in Oropune Gardens, Piarco.
In Sangre Grande, the Ministry of Works is reporting flash flooding along the Valencia Stretch and along the Eastern Main Road, Guacio. The ministry said it is taking steps to clear the roadway at the 35.5km mark along the Toco Road as the Toco River has burst its banks. In Guaico, Tamana, minor flooding has been reported on the Coalmine Road and a fallen tree is being reported on the Cunapo Southern Main Road. In Manzanilla, there is minor flooding reported along 57.2km mark on the Eastern Main Road and North Junction, Manzanilla. Minor flooding is also being reported along 2.5km mark on the Plum Mitan Road.
Two landslides have also been reported in the Acono Maracas Valley.
Villagers work to clear tree which became stuck under the bridge during heavy rains at Bacasa, St Helena Village, Matelot. The bridge was previously washed away during flooding a couple years ago, so villagers take every precaution to ensure the outlet which goes out to the sea is not blocked.

Around noon today, the Meteorological Service issued a Riverine Flood Alert #1 – Orange Level for communities located along Trinidad’s main river courses and associated tributaries for the period yesterday to Tuesday (October 23). Orange level means that you should prepare to safeguard yourself and your property.
Those who live or work near the Caroni River Basin are being urged to be extra vigilant and take the necessary steps to preserve life and property. The Met Office said citizens should be alert for rising river levels and possible over-spill.
This bridge along the Caparo Valley Road is already impassable.

Citizens are also being warned to avoid taking unnecessary risks and avoid walking or driving through flood waters.
