The National Security Minister is lamenting the problem of gangs in this country.
Minister Hinds was speaking at a news conference shortly after midnight on Monday at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (PoSGH) following the killing of 3 men in Gonzales and another at the hospital.
A total of 8 people were shot at by armed assailants.
Hinds said he was “disturbed” by the incident.
Flanked by the Head of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Senior Superintendent Rishi Singh, Hinds quoted statistics that pointed to 65 per cent of the murders in this country being gang-related.
He said this was the reality even with the presence of anti-gang legislation.
The Minister then called on members of the communities where these gangs are prevalent to speak up and provide information to the police.
