Two suspects, including a 14-year-old boy, are expected to be questioned by police following a home invasion in Valsayn on Monday afternoon that left one of their accomplices dead.
Police said the incident began just before 1 pm when three occupants of a home along Valsayn Avenue, Valsayn North, were confronted by armed men.
A 79-year-old woman was warned by one of the intruders to remain quiet, but barking from the family’s pet pitbull alerted relatives, who responded to assist her.
The assailants fled the property by jumping over a wall.
Officers from the St Joseph Criminal Investigations Department later arrested two suspects nearby. The suspects, aged 14 and 22, are from St Joseph and Port of Spain respectively.
Police also reported that a third suspect was shot and killed at Farm Road Extension, Curepe. Up to news time, he remained unidentified.
