East­ern Di­vi­sion po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a sus­pect­ed homi­cide, af­ter a man was found shot dead in Ve­ga de Oropouche on Mon­day night.

The vic­tim has been iden­ti­fied as De­sharn Hen­ry, of Matu­ra.

Re­ports in­di­cate that around 8.30 pm, a vil­lager was walk­ing along Trac­tor Road, off the To­co Main Road, when he stum­bled up­on Hen­ry’s body. Hen­ry ap­peared to have sus­tained gun­shot wounds to the head.

The dis­cov­ery was re­port­ed to the San­gre Grande Po­lice Sta­tion. Of­fi­cers from the Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID) and Task Force re­spond­ed, along with Homi­cide Bu­reau of­fi­cers from Re­gion 2.

On ar­rival, of­fi­cers found Hen­ry ly­ing on the ground in a pool of blood with gun­shot wounds to the head.

The Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer vis­it­ed the scene, pro­nounced him dead and or­dered the re­moval of the body to the San­gre Grande mor­tu­ary, pend­ing a post-mortem at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre, St James.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors at­tached to the Homi­cide Bu­reau, Re­gion 2, are con­tin­u­ing in­quiries in­to the cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing the killing.
