The nude body of an uniden­ti­fied man with head in­juries was dis­cov­ered at Co­cal Es­tate in Man­zanil­la yes­ter­day, prompt­ing a homi­cide in­ves­ti­ga­tion by po­lice.

Re­ports said es­tate work­ers were gath­er­ing dry co­conuts when they stum­bled up­on the body ly­ing in the grass.

The es­tate’s man­ag­er, iden­ti­fied on­ly as Yan­kee, was in­formed of the dis­cov­ery and im­me­di­ate­ly con­tact­ed the Man­zanil­la Po­lice Sta­tion.

PCS Joseph and Moore re­spond­ed to the re­port. Up­on ar­riv­ing at the scene, the of­fi­cers were tak­en by work­ers to the body.

Po­lice said they found a man of mixed de­scent ly­ing nude on the grass with in­juries to his head. He has not yet been iden­ti­fied.

Po­lice are ap­peal­ing to mem­bers of the pub­lic with miss­ing rel­a­tives to con­tact the Man­zanil­la Po­lice Sta­tion at 668-2062.

Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer Dr Mungroo vis­it­ed the scene, made a pro­nounce­ment of death and or­dered the re­moval of the body to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal. pend­ing a post-mortem ex­am­i­na­tion at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre in St James.

Yan­kee al­so told po­lice that he had seen a green wag­on parked along the Man­zanil­la Road on Sat­ur­day. How­ev­er, when he re­turned to the es­tate on Sun­day, the ve­hi­cle had been com­plete­ly burnt.

Po­lice were in­formed and re­spond­ed, re­mov­ing the ve­hi­cle to the Man­zanil­la Po­lice Sta­tion as in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ue.
