Human remains found on land off Mahadeo Street in Felicity, Chaguanas, yesterday have not yet been identified.
ASP Dipchand of the Central Division said a skull and part of a leg were discovered almost two kilometres west of the Cacandee Main Road. No ID was found near the remains, and investigators were unable to determine whether the victim was male or female.
Chaguanas Police and Homicide South are continuing investigations.
Sundar Jokoo, a local government representative in the Chaguanas Borough Corporation and spokesman for the Felicity Community Patrol, said the remains were found on agricultural land that borders the Caroni swamp.
“That area is dark at night, and criminals can dump bodies and hide contraband in this area. We need more police patrols. We at the community level patrol the village; we have limited resources to go beyond that,” he said.
“The villagers are pleading with the Commissioner of Police to send more resources into the area. There is an influx of people from outside the community who are renting apartments here, and we don’t know their motives.”
