Act­ing Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Sab­ri­na Dougdeen-Jaglal, has or­dered an in­quest to be held in­to the death of Michael An­ge­lo Fran­cis, who sus­tained stab wounds and sub­se­quent­ly died at the hos­pi­tal on Oc­to­ber 5.

A state­ment from the TTPS yes­ter­day said the fe­male sus­pect who was held in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent was al­so or­dered re­leased, pend­ing the find­ings of the in­quest.

Po­lice said the de­ci­sion was made on Oc­to­ber 10.

Fran­cis, 27, of Port-of-Spain sus­tained a sin­gle stab wound to the chest with a knife on Oc­to­ber 5 and died on the same date at the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

At the time of the in­ci­dent, po­lice said a woman and a close fe­male rel­a­tive of Fran­cis got in­to an al­ter­ca­tion, which led to Fran­cis phys­i­cal­ly in­ter­ven­ing when he was stabbed.

Po­lice said in­ves­ti­ga­tions were su­per­vised by ASP (Ag) Ram­jag, In­sp (Ag) Stanis­laus, In­sp (Ag) Seecha­ran, and In­sp (Ag) Ram­sumair, all of Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tion (HBI), Re­gion One, to­geth­er with var­i­ous agen­cies. WPC Grant, al­so of HBI Re­gion One, is the com­plainant in the mat­ter.
