A 29-year-old man was shot and killed during a robbery in the early hours of yesterday during an incident in Chinese Village, La Brea.
Police said the shooting of Shaquille Daniel occurred shortly before 2 am after he went to investigate a disturbance at a nearby property. He was later found suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police reports, officers of the La Brea Police Station responded around 2.25 am. On arrival, they met a witness who told them she had been preparing to close her business when she heard dogs barking in her yard.
She reported that Daniel went outside to check what was happening. She later followed and observed him standing in the yard with two other individuals moments before shots were fired.
Emergency responders were contacted. His body was later removed to the Forensic Science Centre, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.
Police said investigations into the killing are continuing. No arrests have been reported so far.–KEVON FELMINE
