A 32-year-old man was gunned down in La Horquetta on Monday night, in an incident which police suspect may be drug-related.
The victim, identified as Dylon Marshall, also known as “Dylo,” of Phase 5, La Horquetta, was found dead at 11.25 pm on Tony Govia Avenue, Phase 6, La Horquetta.
According to police reports, first responders from the La Horquetta Police Station were on mobile patrol when they received a report of loud explosions in the area at 11.20 pm. Upon arrival, officers found Marshall lying face down on the roadway, his feet resting on a black bicycle. He had multiple gunshot wounds and showed no signs of life.
Marshall was described as being of African descent, medium-built, about five feet seven inches tall, with a short cornrow hairstyle. He was wearing light blue three-quarter jeans and a grey long-sleeved jersey at the time of the incident.
Investigators say reports suggest Marshall was riding his bicycle west along Tony Govia Avenue at 11 pm when several gunshots were heard. Witnesses reportedly saw an unidentified suspect fleeing the scene before Marshall was discovered motionless in the road.
The area was immediately cordoned off and crime scene investigators retrieved multiple spent shell casings of various brands, along with projectiles. District Medical Officer, Dr Mendoza, examined the body, made a pronouncement, and ordered its removal to the funeral home pending a post-mortem at the Forensic Science Centre.
Senior officers, including ASP Pitt and Sgt St Rose, visited the scene, along with Homicide officers and members of the Special Evidence Recovery Unit. Investigations led by PC France are ongoing.
