Investigations are continuing into the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old labourer in Penal on Wednesday.
Collis Meade, of Sunrees Road, Penal, died around 10.30 am while undergoing treatment at the San Fernando General Hospital.
Meade was walking along SS Erin Road with his 35-year-old common-law wife, her cousin, and her girlfriend when a white car exited Batchyia Trace and stopped alongside them. The front-seat passenger reportedly got out and fired multiple shots before reentering the vehicle, which then sped away.
Meade sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was initially taken to the Siparia Health Facility before being transferred to San Fernando General Hospital. Crime scene investigators recovered eight spent shell casings at the scene. Police believe the shooting may be linked to a gang dispute.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau, Region 3, are continuing investigations.
