Labourer on bail for rape

A 26-year-old labour­er ac­cused of rape, was grant­ed $250,000 bail with sure­ty, or 25,000 cash al­ter­na­tive when he ap­peared be­fore a Scar­bor­ough Mag­is­trate Court on Mon­day 26 May.

The ac­cused is to al­so re­port at the Shir­van Road Po­lice every Sat­ur­day be­fore 8pm, and shall have no con­tact with the vic­tim or come with­in 50 feet of her.

He is al­so to re­side at Les­son George Dri­ve, Low­lands, To­ba­go.

The mat­ter is set for hear­ing on June 23, 2023.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, the vic­tim re­port­ed that around 9:15pm on Thurs­day 18 May, 2023 she left home with the ac­cused whom she knows quite well to go to Crown Point to buy din­ner, on their re­turn from Crown point he took her to an apart­ment in Low­lands where he had sex­u­al in­ter­course with her against her will.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions were spear­head­ed by W/Supt. (Ag.) Claire Guy-Al­leyne and ASP Seecha­ran, Ag/In­spec­tor Miller, W/Sgt Cater­son of the Spe­cial Vic­tims De­part­ment, To­ba­go.

The ac­cused was ar­rest­ed and charged on May 25, 2023.
