A Laven­tille man died dur­ing a fa­tal road ac­ci­dent in To­ba­go on Thurs­day night, af­ter the car he was dri­ving crashed and flipped, caus­ing him to be eject­ed. The ve­hi­cle then land­ed on him.

Dai­jon Cord­ner, 21, died at the scene while his fe­male com­pan­ion, a 20-year-old woman of Buc­coo New Road, Buc­coo, was se­vere­ly in­jured af­ter she was al­so thrown from the car.

Cord­ner was re­port­ed­ly dri­ving a white AD Wag­on, head­ing east along the Claude Noel High­way, when up­on reach­ing the Light and Life Pen­te­costal High School, the ve­hi­cle picked up a skid.

It was claimed Cord­ner lost con­trol of the ve­hi­cle and col­lid­ed with a drain on the north­ern side of the road, which caused the car to flip and led to both oc­cu­pants be­ing eject­ed.

The car land­ed top of Cord­ner, killing him on the spot.

Pass­ing mo­torists alert­ed the au­thor­i­ties.

The in­jured woman was tak­en to the Scar­bor­ough Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where she was treat­ed and ward­ed in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

The Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer vis­it­ed the scene and or­dered Cord­ner’s body re­moved to the Scar­bor­ough Mor­tu­ary, pend­ing an au­top­sy.
