South West­ern Di­vi­sion of­fi­cers ar­rest­ed six peo­ple, seized a firearm, a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion and mar­i­jua­na dur­ing ex­er­cis­es held in the di­vi­sion yes­ter­day.

The TTPS said around 4:30 am on 14th April 2024, of­fi­cers of the South West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force were on mo­bile pa­trol dur­ing an Op­er­a­tion Safe Streets ex­er­cise in the vicin­i­ty of Phillip Av­enue, when they in­ter­cept­ed a green Nis­san Almera ve­hi­cle, with four oc­cu­pants.

When the of­fi­cers searched the ve­hi­cle they re­port­ed­ly found a Beretta Pis­tol, fit­ted with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing two rounds of am­mu­ni­tion un­der the dri­ver’s seat.

A 54-year-old man from Pe­nal Rock Road and three Venezue­lan na­tion­als in­clud­ing two males aged 29 and 24 and a 22-year-old fe­male were ar­rest­ed.

The men were con­veyed to the Siparia Po­lice Sta­tion and the woman to the Erin Po­lice Sta­tion. Al­so, dur­ing the ex­er­cise two oth­er sus­pects, a 20-year-old from Beck­les Street, Pe­nal, and a 33-year-old from Sobo Vil­lage, La Brea, were ar­rest­ed for Pos­ses­sion of Mar­i­jua­na to­talling 113.42 grams.

This ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr Supt Re­my, ASP Mathu­ra, ASP Si­mon, ASP Cor­rie, and In­sp Prescott.
