One man was killed and his friend left fighting for his life in a hospital following a shooting in Tacarigua on Saturday night.
According to reports, around 6.45 pm on Saturday, Nicholas “Chucky” Batson and Joshua Caesar, both 20, were liming outside a friend’s house at Johnny Street, Tacarigua, when a white Toyota Corolla stopped next to them.
Three occupants of the car reportedly got out and shot at the group of friends who attempted to run away to evade being hit.
The gunmen then returned to the vehicle and drove away.
Caesar, of Lashley Street, Tunapuna, was shot in his head.
He was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he remained warded in a critical condition, up to late yesterday.
Homicide detectives found Batson’s body when they returned to the community to continue their investigations, early yesterday morning.
Batson, of Partap Street, Tacarigua, was pronounced dead on the scene by a District Medical Officer (DMO). An autopsy is expected to be performed on Batson’s body at the Forensic Science Centre in St James today or later this week.
Batson’s murder and that of a couple from Carapichaima, whose bodies were found in a car at Factory Road in Chaguanas, yesterday morning, raised the murder count for the year to 560.
