An ear­ly morn­ing shoot­ing in Wood­brook left one man dead and an­oth­er nurs­ing in­juries.

Ran­dall Ash was killed short­ly af­ter mid­night yes­ter­day when gun­fire erupt­ed along Mur­ray Street, near Adam Smith Park.

Po­lice said Ash and Justin McGurk were to­geth­er in the area around 12.35 am when a man ap­proached them with a firearm and opened fire.

Sev­er­al loud ex­plo­sions were heard.

Ash was found ly­ing on the road­way with what ap­peared to be blood around him, while McGurk was found on the grass in­side Adam Smith Park.

With the as­sis­tance of of­fi­cers at the scene, McGurk was tak­en to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for med­ical at­ten­tion.

Ash was tak­en to the St James Med­ical Com­plex, where he was pro­nounced dead by Dr Sam­lall at about 12.50 am.

The mo­tive for the shoot­ing re­mains un­known as en­quiries con­tin­ue.
