One man currently is in police custody for attempted murder, following an anti-crime operation conducted by the special operations response team, early this morning.
According to an official police statement, sort officers, with help from the Air Support Unit, conducted an intelligence-led operation at John Peter Road in Charlieville, Chaguanas, where they arrested a man for attempted murder.
The police say the suspect was taken to the St Joseph Police Station to await charges.
The police statement goes on to say that based on further intelligence received, sort officers went to observatory street in port of spain, in the vicinity of the Harpe Place where they conducted a search.
They were able to retrieve a pistol, along with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition at that location.
Investigations are ongoing.
