A Woodbrook man who told police he had been robbed at gunpoint of his female friend's car has been arrested for theft of the same car and for making a false police report.
According to the TTPS, the 26-year-old man said he was driving along Laventille Road, Laventille, around 3 am on Monday when two armed men forced him to stop.
He said the men ordered him out of the car and drove off.
However, when police began investigating, the man broke down and confessed that he had fabricated the story.
The grey-coloured Nissan Note, which belongs to a Sangre Grande woman, was later found in the Laventille area.
