A 25-year-old San­gre Grande man ap­peared in court yes­ter­day, charged with the mur­der of six-year-old Kylie Mel­oney.

Aaron Lon­don, of Robin­son Lane Road 1, Damarie Hill, San­gre Grande, ap­peared be­fore Se­nior Mag­is­trate Cheron Raphael in the San­gre Grande Mag­is­trates’ Court.

Dressed in white jer­sey and blue jeans with a slip­per on his feet, Lon­don was es­cort­ed from the hold­ing cells of San­gre Grande Po­lice Sta­tion to the First Court.

While be­fore Mag­is­trate Raphael, Lon­don nev­er lift­ed his head and re­mained qui­et as the charge of mur­der, three counts of shoot­ing with in­tent, pos­ses­sion of a firearm and pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion were read to him.

The charges were laid by Cpl James of Arou­ca Homi­cide Bu­reau Re­gion II.

Lon­don was re­mand­ed in cus­tody to reap­pear on Feb­ru­ary 13.

Mel­oney, of Quash Trace, Fos­ter Road, San­gre Grande, was shot af­ter gun­men stormed her rel­a­tives’ Damarie Hill home on Jan­u­ary 8.

Po­lice re­vealed that around 2.15 am, three armed men stormed the house and opened fire.

Kylie, who at­tempt­ed to run out of the bed­room where she slept with her moth­er and two male rel­a­tives, was shot in her chest. He moth­er was shot on her left leg while the two male rel­a­tives were shot on their shoul­der and hand re­spec­tive­ly.

Kylie was rushed to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal where she died an hour af­ter emer­gency surgery.
