One man has been killed in Barataria.

The vic­tim has been iden­ti­fied as Josi­mar Nero, 28, of Shende Street, Sun­shine Av­enue, San Juan.

The shoot­ing took place at Third Av­enue, East­ern Main Road, Barataria around 8.54 am to­day.

There were re­ports of gun­fire in the vicin­i­ty of Sauce Dou­bles - fol­low­ing which Nero col­lapsed.

Of­fi­cers from the North East­ern Di­vi­sion Traf­fic Unit and the North East­ern Di­vi­sion Emer­gency Re­sponse Pa­trol ar­rived and found Nero still breath­ing de­spite hav­ing been shot sev­er­al times.

He was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope, where he was pro­nounced dead.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
