A 28-year-old man was ar­rest­ed by of­fi­cers of the Tu­na­puna/Pi­ar­co Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion, af­ter he was al­leged­ly found with co­caine and mar­i­jua­na in Curepe on Tues­day.

Ac­cord­ing to the Trinidad and To­ba­go Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Ser­vice (TTMPS), at around 4.47 pm, act­ing Woman Cor­po­ral Ri­va Ram­la­gan, Woman Po­lice Con­sta­ble Shiv­ana James and Con­sta­ble Pe­ter Thomp­son were on rou­tine mo­bile pa­trol near the Ch­agua­nas/Cunu­pia Taxi Stand on Have­lock Street, Curepe, when they ob­served the sus­pect act­ing sus­pi­cious­ly.

The of­fi­cers said the man looked in their di­rec­tion and at­tempt­ed to dis­card a black plas­tic bag. They stopped him and con­duct­ed a search, dur­ing which they found five pack­ets con­tain­ing 21.6 grammes of co­caine on his per­son.

The of­fi­cers al­so searched the black plas­tic bag and found 97.7 grammes of mar­i­jua­na.

The sus­pect was ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the Tu­na­puna/Pi­ar­co Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion, where he was charged with pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na and pos­ses­sion of co­caine.

In a re­lease, the TTMPS com­mend­ed the of­fi­cers for their “pro­fes­sion­al­ism and ded­i­ca­tion,” say­ing their vig­i­lance con­tributed to the re­moval of nar­cotics from the com­mu­ni­ty.

The ser­vice al­so thanked mem­bers of the pub­lic for their con­tin­ued sup­port and re­it­er­at­ed its com­mit­ment to proac­tive polic­ing, crime pre­ven­tion and safe­guard­ing com­mu­ni­ties through its Com­mu­ni­ty In­fused Polic­ing ap­proach.
