A Valencia man who went to Carnival celebrations in Arima armed with a gun was arrested by police on Monday.

Northern Division Task Force officers were on patrol when they saw the 23-year-old man acting suspiciously. Upon searching him, the officers found a Tanfoglio pistol with a magazine containing 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

In another incident, officers of the Northern Division Emergency Response Patrol arrested two men and seized a Tec-9 semi-automatic pistol with a magazine and 13 rounds of ammunition in Guanapo on Carnival Monday.

Police, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a white Nissan Caravan along San Carlos Road. The men, a 23-year-old from Guanapo and a 28-year-old from Maloney, were arrested and taken to the Maloney Police Station.

In Couva on Carnival Monday, police found a loaded gun hidden behind a car’s front wheel. According to reports, officers of the Couva Police Station were searching along Captain Watson Street, when they saw a black Honda City vehicle parked along the street. The officers found a “Special” revolver with six rounds of .38mm ammunition hidden behind the vehicle’s front wheel. No one was arrested in connection with the find.
