Investigations are underway into the accidental death of an Aripero man who was killed by a falling utility line on Monday.
According to reports, Ulrich John was in Rousillac Village visiting his mother around 10 am when disaster struck. Eyewitnesses told police that he was just about to enter his mother's yard along Virginia Avenue when a truck belonging to Massy Stores was heading along the Southern Main Road. The truck accidentally got hooked up to some low lying TSTT cables, pulling them down.
Villagers said one of the poles, which they said was rotten, broke from the pressure, fell onto the road and the cable struck John in his chest. He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital. However, by the time he arrived at the Accident and Emergency Department he was already dead.
The driver of the truck reported the incident to the La Brea police. He was questioned and allowed to leave.
