Man killed in second attempt on his life

A man who es­caped a pre­vi­ous at­tempt on his life was gunned down on Sun­day evening.

Po­lice said Roland “Grover” Phillip, 33, was shot and killed at Sun­shine Av­enue, San Juan, around 6 pm.

Res­i­dents said they heard gun­shots but did not im­me­di­ate­ly come out­side. A lit­tle while lat­er they dis­cov­ered Phillip bleed­ing from gun­shot wounds about the body. He was tak­en to hos­pi­tal but was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.

Po­lice said Phillip had been shot at last month but es­caped then with a mi­nor flesh wound.

Phillip was one of three men killed be­tween Sat­ur­day night and Sun­day evening.

Hours ear­li­er at 11 am, Andy “San­ta” Jack, 31, of Reid Lane, D’Abadie, was out­side his home when a ve­hi­cle pulled up next to him. The front seat pas­sen­ger low­ered his win­dow and shot Jack sev­er­al times be­fore the dri­ver drove away.

Jack was tak­en to the Ari­ma Dis­trict Hos­pi­tal but died while un­der­go­ing treat­ment.

Mean­while, po­lice al­so re­cov­ered the burnt re­mains of a man in San­gre Grande they be­lieve to be Noel Car­ring­ton.

Po­lice said a res­i­dent of the area dis­cov­ered Car­ring­ton’s charred body in bush­es at the side of Non-Pariel Road, North Oropouche, San­gre Grande, around 9.30 am. His body was found burnt in a heap of tyres with the hands miss­ing.
