A 45-year-old man was gunned down at his St Augustine car care business yesterday afternoon.
Police said Kester Reid was at the Terminal Service Centre on Evans Street, St Augustine, at 2.35 pm when he was approached by a gunman who shot him several times.
The gunman then walked over Reid’s body, shooting him again, before running away.
Passers-by called the police and officers from the North-Central Division Task Force and the St Joseph CID visited the scene with a district medical officer, who declared Reid dead.
Police from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II also visited the scene.
Police said Reid was not known to them and did not have any criminal record.
Sources said Reid was well known in the community and was operating the business for some time as he was good at auto electrical work in particular.
No motive has been established for the murder.
Reid’s killing brought the murder toll for 2023 to 516, compared to 542 for the same period last year.
