A man who was said to be an outpatient of the St Ann’s Hospital was knocked down by two vehicles while crossing the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in San Juan yesterday morning.
The victim was identified as Naresh Ramgoolam, of El Socorro.
Police said they were told that Ramgoolam was known to have frequented the streets in the area.
Officers said they were told by some people said to have known about him that he was allegedly an outpatient of St Ann’s Hospital.
The two drivers involved in the fatal vehicular accident have given official statements to the police.
Police reports said at 5.50 am, a Santa Cruz man was driving his Hyundai Tucson east along the highway when he collided with Ramgoolam, who was crossing from south to north.
The second motorist, who was driving his blue Toyota Aqua, also struck Ramgoolam as he fell on the road.
The scene was processed by officers of the North Eastern Division and Crime Scene Investigations.
Both drivers went to the Barataria Police Station where they both gave statements to officers.
Investigations are ongoing.
