A man who was said to be an out­pa­tient of the St Ann’s Hos­pi­tal was knocked down by two ve­hi­cles while cross­ing the Churchill Roo­sevelt High­way in San Juan yes­ter­day morn­ing.

The vic­tim was iden­ti­fied as Naresh Ram­goolam, of El So­cor­ro.

Po­lice said they were told that Ram­goolam was known to have fre­quent­ed the streets in the area.

Of­fi­cers said they were told by some peo­ple said to have known about him that he was al­leged­ly an out­pa­tient of St Ann’s Hos­pi­tal.

The two dri­vers in­volved in the fa­tal ve­hic­u­lar ac­ci­dent have giv­en of­fi­cial state­ments to the po­lice.

Po­lice re­ports said at 5.50 am, a San­ta Cruz man was dri­ving his Hyundai Tuc­son east along the high­way when he col­lid­ed with Ram­goolam, who was cross­ing from south to north.

The sec­ond mo­torist, who was dri­ving his blue Toy­ota Aqua, al­so struck Ram­goolam as he fell on the road.

The scene was processed by of­fi­cers of the North East­ern Di­vi­sion and Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tions.

Both dri­vers went to the Barataria Po­lice Sta­tion where they both gave state­ments to of­fi­cers.
